On the 2nd
day of competition in round 1, I watched The World Barista Championship taking
place in Copenhagen, Denmark.via a Live
streaming video from the other side of the world and from the Baristas that I saw
compete included, Barista Champions from the following countries they included:
Belgium,
Colombia, Australia, El
Salvador, Honduras,
France, India, Nicaragua
United States, Poland, Puerto Rico,
Slovakia, Taiwan, Uganda,
Mexico, Korea, Italy,
Croatia, Greece and Zambia.
Some of the presentations that I thought were tops included David Malkin of the St Ali roastery and café in Melbourne, Australia who used black cherries and almond crème along with espresso in his signature beverage. Kyle Glanville, Intelligentsia Coffee Roasters, Los Angeles, USA an outstanding performance, he was laid back and cool throughout his presentation. Marcin Michalik of Coffee Heaven in Warsaw, Poland used hazelnut, coconut, espresso and orange in his signature beverage.
