The 2nd annual 2008 Ultimate Barista Challenge Korea with drinks of Latte Art, Espresso Frappe and Espresso Cocktail made it’s presence known at the The 5th Food & Tableware Festival Korea! Local barista battled it out as each one vied for the title of “Ultimate Barista Korea”! This no holds barred espresso coffee competition where taste, talent and speed earn high marks with discerning UBC Korea Tasting and Technical Judges.
Emcee Danny Johns of WholeCup Coffee Consulting, LLC; founder of the UBC Korea, presided over the Ultimate Barista Challenge Korea with a play by play commentary to a crowd of hundreds! Exclusive UBC Sponsor’s products and equipment were demonstrated for audience members to enjoy tasting and to witness Ultimate Barista Korea (Espresso Cocktail Champion 2007) Mr. Kyoung woo Kim & Mr. Greg Suekoff, Ultimate Barista USA (2007 Latte Art & 2008 Espresso Cocktail Champion in New York City), prepared their creative tasty coffee creations. Monin Syrups put on a tasty Coffee with Syrup Demonstration where all audience members were amazed at the coffee recipes they could make at home! Brise Tea also introduced recipes and tea basics in their Seminar at the UBC Stage!
Esteemed UBC Korea Judges included Mr. Young min Lee, Head Judge & UBC Korea Coordinator, Ms. Sae bom Hong, also Head Judge & UBC Korea Coordinator, Kim Sung-Kwon, Lee Sang-Gou, Special Guest Judge Mrs. Marysabel Caballero; Honduras Coffee Producer & Cup of Excellence Winner, Lim Suk-il, Choi Sung-il, Park No-Pung, Lee Sang-Gou, Song Gu-yong, Kim Yong-sik, Park Jung-Soo and Lee Sang-Geu. UBC Korea Judges experienced a wide variety of alcohol, frappes & latte art creations! This year’s UBC Korea event brought together the best that Seoul, South Korea has to offer the Specialty Coffee market.
This year’s winning UBC Baristi had to fight hard for their victories! Espresso Frappe Winner, Um Tae-Jin from Buonasera, Espresso Cocktail Winner Sin So-Hyun of La Caffe and the Latte Art Winner Oh Seoung-Sun of Café Groo Attibassi dosed, tamped and shot their way to the top!
On the last day we witnessed 2 professional baristi, UBC Korea Mr. Kyong woo Kim & Mr. Greg Suekoff UBC USA, demonstrated how to make beautiful Latte Art to our audience’s delight!
