Vienna Bakery Vienna Bakery, 425 E Avenida De Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks

Viva la pink Formica and vintage bakeries everywhere. No doubt if you dug deep enough, you would discover how baked sweets became married to the color pink. But these days we take it for granted that donuts come in a rose colored box.

The Vienna Bakery in Thousand Oaks carries out that pastel tradition with an interior that channeles back a couple decades. With tables tops and a display case framed in pink, the otherwise plain bakery gets down to business.

The selection in the way of edibles can be a bit overwhelming. They offer cookies and donuts of all sorts, Danishes, muffins, éclairs, and croissants. They also make cakes for all occasions. Still and all, if you have a raging sweet tooth, you want to try their slice decadence called the French Pastry. For this, they stack layers of cake topped by whipped up creamy clouds.

The silver espresso machine residing behind the counter cranks out frothy lattes, espressos and mochas. They source their coffee from Farmer Brothers.

On a given visit, you might keep company with an old man and his decaf, a grandmother and her granddaughter or perhaps a woman browsing through the cake portfolio. It is a place to relax and see your neighbors.
